Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
Taskmetrics is a task and time-tracking app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it. We keep it short because the app collects little.
What we collect
Account details — your email address, and a display name if you provide one. Needed to create and secure your account.
Your content — the tasks, projects, time entries, tags, journal entries, notes and goals you create in the app. This is stored so the app can show it back to you and sync it across your devices.
Calendar data, only if you connect a calendar — if you connect a Google or Microsoft account, we store which account it is (its address and the provider's id for it), the list of calendars on it, and the events on the calendars you choose. This is described in full under Calendar connections below. Connecting a calendar is optional and the rest of the app works without it.
Technical basics — standard server logs (request times, error information) needed to operate and secure the service, and two cookies that keep you signed in and record your time zone, listed on the cookies page.
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or session-replay trackers, and the app does not track you across other apps or websites.
How we use it
To provide the app: authenticate you, store and sync your content, send the reminders and notifications you turn on, and keep the service secure and working. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your content to train models.
Who processes it
Your data is stored with Supabase (database, authentication) and served through Vercel (hosting). Account emails (confirming your address, resetting your password, and letting you know when someone invites you) are delivered by Resend, which receives your email address and the message for that purpose. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. The AI features described below are provided by Anthropic, which receives only what those features send. These providers process data on our behalf and only to run the service.
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored on their managed infrastructure. The security page describes the protections in more detail, including what is not in place yet.
Calendar connections
Taskmetrics can connect to a Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook account so your meetings appear beside your tasks, and so tasks you schedule appear on your calendar. This is entirely optional, off until you turn it on, and can be disconnected at any time.
What we ask for. Permission to see the list of calendars on the account, and to read and write events on the calendars you pick. We ask for the ability to write because scheduling a task creates an event; we do not use it for anything else.
What we do with it. Events from the calendars you select are shown alongside your tasks in the app, and are refreshed about every fifteen minutes, or immediately when you ask us to. A task you place on the hour grid — that is, one you set aside a time to work on — is written to the one calendar you nominate, and moving that event moves the task's time to match. Deleting the event unschedules the task rather than deleting it. A task that only has a due date, with no time set aside to do it, is never written to your calendar.
Turning a meeting into a task. You can ask us to track one of your meetings. That copies the event's title and its start and end time into a new task in your account, so the hour can be tracked and reported on. Nothing is written back to your calendar in return — the meeting is already there, and we neither own it nor touch it.
Limited Use. Taskmetrics' use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically: calendar data is used only to provide the calendar features described above; it is never sold, never used for advertising, never used to train models, and never transferred to anyone else except as needed to provide the feature, to comply with the law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with your notice. No human at Taskmetrics reads your calendar data, except where you have explicitly asked us to for support.
The coach. If you use the coach, the time your remaining meetings take up today is counted toward its check for an overbooked day. That check runs entirely within Taskmetrics: calendar data is never sent to an AI provider.
The keys to your calendar. Connecting produces access and refresh tokens — credentials that let the app reach your calendar. They are encrypted before they are stored, are never sent to your browser or phone, and are never written to our logs.
Disconnecting. Under Settings → Calendars → Disconnect, we delete the stored tokens and the record of your calendars immediately. Before we do, we ask what should happen to the events we put in your calendar: choose to remove them and we delete them first, while we still have the access to do it; choose to leave them and they stay as a record of when the work happened, and you can remove them in your calendar yourself later. Either way your tasks stay. You can also revoke our access from your Google account or Microsoft account at any time, which stops the connection working.
AI features
Two features use Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. Both are optional, and Anthropic processes what they send on our behalf, to produce the response, and under terms that do not allow it to train its models on that data.
Converting handwriting. When you ask to turn a handwritten block into text, an image of that one block is sent. Nothing else from the entry goes with it, and we store only the text you choose to keep.
The coach (Pro). The coach notices things like a habit streak about to break, a goal that has gone quiet, or a pile of overdue tasks, and can add notes to your weekly review. Deciding what to point out happens in Taskmetrics itself. On Pro, the wording is written by Claude, which receives the facts behind that one prompt (for example a habit's name and the length of its streak) and your first name. For a weekly review it receives that week's completed tasks, time per project, habits and goals, and the titles of your journal entries. We keep the wording it writes so the same prompt is not written twice.
Your journal stays out unless you let it in. The text of your journal entries is never sent to the coach unless you turn on Coach reads journal in the menu. With it on, the coach can read why you set a goal and the entries you wrote that week, so its notes can be more personal. You can turn the coach, or its access to your journal, off at any time from the same menu.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time — in the app under More → Delete account, or on the web under Account settings → Delete account. Deletion is permanent and immediate: it removes your account and all associated content — tasks, projects, time entries, journals and notes — along with any calendar connection and its stored tokens. There is no recovery afterward, so export anything you want to keep first.
Retention
We keep your content for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, the content is deleted. Operational logs are retained only as long as needed to run and secure the service.
Children
Taskmetrics is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Material changes will be communicated within the app or by email.
