Getting started

From nothing to a working week

Six steps, about ten minutes. Everything here is on the free plan — no trial clock and no card.

The six steps

  1. 1

Put one thing in the Inbox

Press Add task, type what is on your mind, and press Enter. Anything without a project lands in Inbox, which is the point — capture first, sort later.

  2. 2

Say when, in the same line

You do not need the date picker. Type call Dan tomorrow 3pm and the date, the time and the task text are separated for you. The words that became a date are highlighted as you type, so you can see what was understood before you commit.

  3. 3

    Give today a shape

Today shows what is due, including anything overdue. Upcoming is the week ahead, and you can drag a task to another day. A project can be read as a list, a board by section, a calendar or a Gantt timeline, whichever suits the work.

  4. 4

    Start the clock

Press the timer on any task and a bar stays visible while it runs, on whichever device you are using. Stop it from another one — a timer started on your phone stops from your laptop, and the elapsed time is the same to the second.

  5. 5

    Let the repeats repeat

Type every monday or every 2 weeks and the task reschedules itself when you complete it. Fall behind and it records the occurrence you missed rather than stacking up copies of itself.

  6. 6

    Take it with you

Install Taskmetrics from your browser — on a phone, Add to Home Screen; on a desktop, the install icon in the address bar. It then opens like any other app and keeps working through a bad connection.

Everything you can type in one line

Quick add reads plain English. Combine as many of these as you like, in any order — the rest of the line stays as the task.
